A type 1 nylon sling has a triangle and choker on either end. Its use is primarily for vertical, choker, or basket hitches. A type 2 nylon sling is noted by the fact that is has a triangle fitting on both ends. It's primary use is with a vertical or basket hitch. A type 3 nylon sling otherwise known as flat eye type sling is extremely popular within the industry otherwise known to most as the standard unless type 4 nylon slings are requested. Type 4 nylon slings also called twisted eye slings are the same as type 3 but the eyes are twisted 90 degrees to make for a better choker hitch. We're almost done. A type 5 or endless sling is the most useful and versatile of all the 6 types of nylon sling configurations insofar as they can be used in all three types of hitches. Also the points where you find the most wear and tear on the nylon sling can be adjusted around the circumference of the sling to increase the life of the sling. To improve load control and balance you can spread the legs and use this in a choker or a basket hitch. And last but not least, there is type 6 which are called reverse eye slings. These are an endless sling with butted together edges to double the sling width. This sling has eyes that are reinforced and wear pads too. This also helps this type with long lasting durability.
