Heavy Duty Wire Rope Hardware Terminations

Wire rope comes in a wide variety of gauges for an equally vast array of applications. While the cable can be purchased as open lengths that are rolled onto a spool, precut lengths of wire rope with a variety of attached hardware terminations (ends) are available. Some of the more common terminations are:

• Thimbles: When a length of wire rope is terminated in a bent loop, a thimble is a loop shaped steel reinforcement that is placed inside the loop to preserve the shape and strength of the termination.

• Wire Rope Clamps: These clamps are generally used to bind the wire rope after a loop termination is formed. Two steel saddles are clamped together with nuts and bolts to secure the two thicknesses of the looped cable.

• Wedge Sockets: Specialty hardware used on terminations that need to be replaced frequently in high wear situations.
