Of all the considerations for you to make, selecting the correct wire rope core is important. There are three main types of wire rope cores, which include:
Strand Core- these cores are typically confined within stationary ropes (guy wires, bridge cables, and aircraft cables). It is also used in environments where severe crushing is to be expected.
Independent Wire Rope Core- independent centers provide at least three requirements. They have increased strength, stronger resistance to crushing, and can withstand excessive heat. As the strength and weight of these ropes increase, it is important to keep in mind that its flexibility will slightly decrease. This type of core is recommended when severe loads are used on ropes running over sheaves or on wound drums. Independent wire rope cores should not be used in all instances, so it is important to consult with a professional wire rope specialist.
Fiber Core- These cores are made in one of two ways: as plastic fibers made from polypropylene or pre-lubricated java sisal fibers. The fibers make up an extremely hard rope, which can easily stand up under high pressure and consistent rope service.
